Painting the light, otherwise known as “light painting”,  involves adding your own light to the scene. Whether natural or man-made, we all know, “it’s all about the light”.

Years ago on we tried this on a photo workshop and, well, we weren’t impressed.

Then we saw a demo this past August at PhotoShop World with David Black, and we were, awestruck! So much so, that before we left PhotoShop World, Jeff had our cool penlights on order.

Suffice it to say, the penlights have sat in the drawer…

If you recall, back in November, we stumbled across a neat opportunity to paint the light at the Desert Botanical Gardens‘ Bruce Munro light exhibit… except, we forgot our lights…

But this time we were prepared.

Our light also offered a red option. Have ever seen a red cactus?

And as you can see, it is all about the light (and having a little fun).
